I love chicken teriyaki! It’s one of my ultimate fave Japanese chicken dishes. Savory, sweet, and seriously delicious!

This four-ingredient chicken teriyaki chicken recipe is the best in the world! It’s incredibly easy, super quick, and guarantees a scrumptious dinner. I love serving chicken teriyaki over steamed white rice with a side of veggies for a simple yet filling meal that my family always enjoys.

This chicken teriyaki is a healthy meal. It’s also perfect for meal prep. And the sauce can also be made in advance. To ensure the freshness of the sauce, store it in a tightly sealed container or glass jar and place it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Although, I would not recommend freezing it.

Juicy, tender chicken tossed in a sweet and savory sauce. This chicken teriyaki is the best weeknight dinner for busy days!

Ingredients

1 pound 0.4 kg chicken thighs, deboned, skin-on
white sesame seeds for garnishing optional
Salt

Teriyaki Sauce:

2 tbsp soy sauce, low sodium preferred
1 tbsp sugar
1/3 c. Japanese mirin sweet rice wine

How to make Chicken Teriyaki

Step 1: With a pinch of salt, lightly season all sides of the chicken thighs.

Step 2: In a saucepan, whisk the Teriyaki Sauce ingredients. Let it simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes until reduced to a thicker consistency.

Step 3: Meanwhile, heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs (skin side down) and pan-fry until browned and cooked through. Flip and continue to fry the other side until the skin of the chicken has a crackly crispy texture. Turn the heat off when done, and set the chicken aside to cool.

Step 4: Into pieces, slice the chicken thighs. Over the chicken, drizzle the teriyaki sauce. If desired, garnish with some sesame seeds. Serve the Chicken Teriyaki right away with steamed rice. Enjoy!
