Seriously easy to make and ready in a snap. Extra crispy pieces of chicken tossed and covered in a delicious sesame sauce. You’ll never order takeout anymore because of this super crispy, savory sesame chicken!
Ready in less than thirty minutes and made with just a couple of simple ingredients. This crispy sesame chicken is one of my favorite Chinese takeouts. This version is super easy and quick, yet guarantees the same if not better taste than the original. I love to serve these crispy sesame chicken immediately, but leftovers are great to store for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge. These can also be frozen. Simply store them in a plastic freezer bag and freeze them for up to 3 months. When ready to serve, defrost in the fridge overnight and reheat on a baking sheet in a single layer for 20 to 25 minutes at 375 degrees.
Ingredients
Sesame Chicken Sauce Ingredients:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. rice vinegar
1/3 c. water
1/2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tsp sesame oil
Tempura Batter:
2 egg whites
1/2 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. cold seltzer water
1/2 c. flour
Chicken:
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 pound chicken thighs, boneless and skinless, cut into 1-inch chunks
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
vegetable oil for deep frying
2 tsp sesame oil
How to make Crispy Sesame Chicken
Combine Sesame Chicken Sauce Ingredients until well blended.
Mix the Tempura Batter until combined.
Step 3: To the batter, add the pieces of chicken. Coat the chicken well.
Step 4: Heat 3 inches of oil to 350 degrees. Once hot, add the battered chicken in batches and fry until golden brown.
Step 5: Add Add the sesame oil to a large wok or skillet. Then, add the garlic and red pepper flakes. Stir fry for about 30 seconds.
Step 6: Pour in the sauce and add the chicken. Quickly toss to coat.
Step 7: Serve the crispy sesame chicken right away garnished with some sesame seeds. Enjoy!
