Beef Bulgogi is a popular Korean dish. A Korean signature bbq that you can easily make at home. This ground beef bulgogi version has the same flavor as the traditional one. The only difference is the texture. Ground beef bulgogi is not only amazing to serve as the main dish, but also as an appetizer, meal prep, quick weeknight meal, or even for weekend brunch. The best part is this is incredibly easy to throw together using just a couple of simple ingredients. Serve this ground beef bulgogi over warm cooked rice, cauliflower rice, quinoa, or your favorite starches for a filling meal that your family will love. If desired, garnish the bulgogi with some green onions and sesame seeds.
INGREDIENTS
10 cloves garlic, chopped
1 medium size onion, small diced
1 pound grass-fed or lean ground beef
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin
1 tablespoons plum extract(or use apricot jam)
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 to 5 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
How to make ground beef bulgogi
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, place the beef, garlic, onion, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, plum extract, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
Step 2: Add the cooking oil to a hot wok or large skillet over high heat and swirl to coat. Then, add the ground beef mixture. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes, breaking the meat up into little chunks until all the liquid is gone and everything is completely cooked.
Step 3: Toss in the chopped green onions once you hear a sizzling and all the moisture from the beef is no more. Then, turn the heat off. Add the sesame seeds and oil. Toss again.
Step 4: Serve the ground beef bulgogi over warm cooked rice, cauliflower rice, quinoa, or your preferred starch. If desired, garnish with some sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
