Italian Sausage and Peppers

This Italian sausage and peppers is an easy weeknight meal option with flavorful pieces of Italian sausage mixed with diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, basil, lots of red and green bell pepper, and onion. Serve this on hoagie rolls for a simple meal that your kids will gladly devour!

This Italian sausage and peppers is a classic meal that you can easily whip up in minutes! We love serving this on hoagie rolls, but this is also great over rice or pasta.

Enjoy a very comforting meal at home with this easy and delicious Italian sausage and peppers!

Ingredients

1 package Johnsonville Naturals Mild Italian Sausage

2 tbsp Vegetable oil

2 sweet onions, thinly sliced

1 green pepper, thinly sliced

1 red pepper, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (14.5-oz.) can of diced tomatoes

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1 tbsp tomato paste

1/4 tsp black pepper

How to make Italian Sausage and Peppers

Step 1: Into a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sausage and cook until all sides are browned. Set the sausage aside when done. At this point, you do not need to cook the sausage all the way.

Step 2: In the same pan, add the onion and peppers. Saute the veggies in the remaining grease in the pan over medium heat until tender. Then, add the garlic and continue to cook for another minute.

Step 3: Into 1 to 1 1/2-inch piece, slice the sausage. Add the sausage back into the pan along with the rest of the ingredients.

Step 4: Continue to cook for additional 5 to 10 minutes or until the sausage is completely cooked and the sauce has thickened.

Step 5: Take off the heat when done and serve the Italian sausage and peppers immediately on hoagie rolls. Enjoy!
