Ingredients

2 pounds Lean Ground Beef or Ground Turkey

2 tbsp Olive Oil

2 tsp Seasoned Salt (such as Johnny’s®)

1 large Yellow Onion, diced

3 large cloves Garlic, pressed or finely minced

2 – 14.5-oz. cans of Diced Tomatoes with juice, or stewed tomatoes

2 – 15-oz. cans of Tomato Sauce

2 large Bay Leaves

1 c. Low Sodium Beef Broth (chicken broth if using ground turkey)

2 tsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce (or Worcestershire sauce)

1 tsp Black Pepper

2 c. Uncooked Small Elbow Macaroni

2 tsp Italian Seasoning

1 tbsp Paprika

How to make Old Fashioned Goulash

Step 1: Into a hot Dutch oven or soup pot over med-high heat, drizzle the oil. Add ground beef or turkey. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often until browned. Then, spoon some of the excess fat off.

Step 2: To the pot, add the diced onion along with the garlic and bay leaves. Continue to cook for additional 4 minutes, stirring often.

Step 3: Pour in the broth and add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, soy sauce, seasoned salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika. Mix well.

Step 4: Adjust the heat to low. Put the lid on and cook for additional 15 minutes, stirring often.

Step 5: Add the uncooked macaroni noodles and stir. Put the lid on and continue to cook for another 15 to 25 minutes or until the pasta is cooked.

Step 6: Before serving, discard the bay leaves. Enjoy!

Note:

Increase the beef broth by a cup or so if you prefer your goulash more like a soup.
