Polish Casserole

This Polish Casserole is a regular on our menu rotation. It’s the perfect meal for your entire family. Super good I am pretty sure that even your little ones will love this casserole! The best part is you can make this delicious Polish Casserole with almost any pasta that will hold the sauce!

To make this Polish Casserole, all you need are just a couple of simple ingredients. You can even prep this in advance and freeze it unbaked until ready to bake. This is an awesome casserole recipe that you must not miss!

Ingredients

1-1/2 lbs smoked Polish sausage or kielbasa, cut into 1/2-inch slices

4 c. uncooked penne pasta

1 jar (16 oz.) sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained

3 c. shredded Swiss cheese, divided

1-1/3 c. 2% milk

2 cans (10-3/4 oz. each) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

4 garlic cloves, minced

4 green onions, chopped

2 tbsp Dijon mustard

How to make Polish Casserole

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Following the package directions, cook the pasta. Drain when done and place in a large bowl. Add the sausage to the bowl with the pasta along with the soup, sauerkraut, 2 c. cheese, milk, onions, mustard, and garlic. Toss well.

Step 3: Into two greased 8-inch square baking dishes, spoon the mixture and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top.

Step 4: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes, uncovered, until golden brown and bubbly.

Notes:

If freezing, tent the unbaled casserole and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, thaw in the fridge overnight. About 30 minutes before baking, take the casserole out of the fridge. Then, bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for about 50 to 55 minutes, uncovered, until bubbly and golden brown.
